Sky Sports News becoming HD and replaced by Sky 3+1 on Freeview
From August 2010, Sky Sports will become HD making it a pay-only channel available for Virgin Media and Sky customers. Sky Sports News HD joins Sky News HD as the Sky will now have 50 channels in HD and the 5th Sky Sports channel to be broadcast in HD.


Sky Sports News also launched a Radio station marking it as the 1st ever 24/7 sports news radio station.

The new HD Sports news channel will bring Sky Sports in line with their American counterpart ESPN who has broadcast their channels in HD for many years.
