Google Music Launches iPhone Web App [News]

posted on September 11, 2011 by Dave LeClair

Google Music finally has a more elegant way to listen to your music on the iPhone. This is some news that Google Music users who own an iPhone have been waiting for since the beta launched. You could always listen to your music in Google Music on your iPhone, but it was in the standard interface and it was not a very pleasant experience. Fortunately this is rectified by a new, beautifully done web app, which is up and running now.

It is one of the better done web apps that I have seen on the iPhone. In fact, it feels so well done that it does not feel like you are using the app in the browser at all. It feels like a real iPhone app, not one running in Safari.

Even still, I would prefer to see an actual Google Music app in the app store just because I don’t like having to use the browser to play my music, but at this point beggars cannot be choosers and I will take what I can get.

To use the web app, just point your browser to music.google.com on your iPhone and it will automatically launch the mobile version of the site. It will take a few seconds to initialize your library and you will be ready to go.

The interface is clean and easy to navigate, and it feels very much like using the standard iPod application on the iPhone.
